Documents from the Library of Kennis
Standalone episode — no prior listening required.
Two minutes tracing the remains of a forgotten capital.
Following old records from the Library of Kennis, a chronicler walks the banks of the Sturt River in search of Frede. Once a seat of kings, now reduced to ruins, fragments, and unanswered names.
A quiet journey through loss, fading memory, and the uneasy silence left when a kingdom slips out of living history.

SpeakerThis research was written when it was two lifetimes ago when the Wiedweidich Lake shrunk, and is the age that winter leaves us. And the number of Gröns is more than Bruni at the library. I am Eternättla, an apprentice, who have borne two children. The area was a kingdom ruled by a king when the lake was still a lake. This is what is said. However, when asked, no one remembers this king's name or any king's name. It was two lifetimes ago that the last king of Gulhuva died. It was also a time when people in this area moved away. They moved because the fields no longer yielded enough crops. When the king's name was Gräs, the king lived in Frede, our record says. He could be the last king's grandfather. The documents are not conclusive. I travelled there to see what happened to Frede. First, I found a place called the Queen's Hamlet. There lived a couple who showed me in the right direction. Our records say that Frede was the capital of the kingdom. More people than the king and his family stayed there, yet there are just a few ruins left. I found a tower and some walls still standing, but nothing more. You get to the place by following the Sturt River from Widveidich Lake north, past the fork, and staying by the east river. Before you reach the forest, you should see the ruin of the tower.
