Stories from Väruld
Stories from the world of Väruld.
Whispers of poems, fragments of lore, and echoes of distant journeys. Some tales unfold in moments, others across many paths. Voices shaped by AI bring the realm to life — diverse, timeless, and just beyond the veil of reality. Updated weekly.
Väruld is a fantasy world I have created, which also includes books with detailed descriptions and novels.
All stories (unless otherwise stated) are written by me, Désirée Nordlund.

HostWelcome. As usual, I have the creator of Varold, Désirée Nordlund, with me today, represented with an AI voice. Hello Désirée.
AI-DésiréeHost
Host
Hello. How are you today? I'm an AI voice too, and I don't feel much. But thank you for asking. I think we should talk more about the gods in Vargold. There are seven, right?
AI-DésiréeYes, there are seven gods commonly accepted as the Allvaldughers.
HostThe Allvaldughers?
AI-DésiréeYou could translate the Alvaldugers to the Allmighties. Blomster, Rödhe, and Farskajaut were the first. And they are the gods of creation. Then there are Brander, Diup, Avärkan, and Sial, who have different specialities but are more caretakers than creators. Sial is the guardian of souls. She watches over all spirits between lives. She keeps them safe until they are reborn. Avärkan is the god of labour. He lends humans the strength to bear the burdens needed.
HostThat could come in handy.
AI-DésiréeAgree. Then there is Diup, the goddess of water, and Brander the goddess of fire.
HostThe opposites?
AI-DésiréeActually, fire and water are not opposites Väruld, not as they are in our world. Then Blomster is the god of plants. Rödhe is the goddess of animals born from eggs. And Farskajaut is the god of mammals. They also created the planets and the humans.
HostWhen you created these gods, what was your process?
AI-DésiréeOh, that was some time ago now. The three gods of creation are three because when you try something new, you often get too much, too little, and then get it right. They also go from plants to eggs to mammals. That's a story of its own for another time. Then I thought about what humans would need gods for. Crossing water, water for life and crops, fire contained in a hearth or wildfire. And of course, you have a god taking care of the souls between lives.
HostWhat about Avärkan?
AI-DésiréeI figured there is a lot of hard work on a farm, or a mine, or in a bakery, or anywhere. Why not a god for that? That is a basic human need, like water and warmth.
HostWe will have episodes with lore later because this is so fascinating. But we have to end this episode now, unfortunately.
